Adventure enthusiasts and winter sports lovers, mark your calendars! The Backcountry Film Festival, produced by Winter Wildlands Alliance, is returning to Mammoth on Thurs., Dec. 12, 2024.

Celebrating 20 years of human-powered winter adventures, this year’s lineup features 11 breathtaking short films that celebrate the strength and spirit of humans in winter.

This event is hosted by Sierra Forever at the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, 2510 Main Street, in Mammoth Lakes. All proceeds go to the Eastern Sierra SnowSchool Program, which provides over 300 fifth graders from Bishop and Mammoth area elementary schools with experiential outdoor education. SnowSchool helps students explore their local environment through snow science, wildlife studies, and watershed education—fostering a lifelong connection to nature.
