Things to Know About Ranger Programs All programs are free of charge. Programs are outside and subject to cancellation without warning. Children must be accompanied by an adult on all programs. Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for changing weather. Bring a hat, water, snacks, sunscreen, and your curiosity.
On October 22nd at 12 pm, join Cory Shiozaki, director of The Manzanar Fishing Club, for Manzanar’s wartime fishing stories brought to life. Mr. Shiozaki will share stories of Manzanar’s fishermen who snuck away from camp under cover of darkness to fish some of the Eastern Sierra’s best local fishing holes. Joining him to answer visitors’ questions will be Michael Nakamura, 2nd Unit Director of Photography for the documentary, and Dylan Wakasa. The noon program will begin with an illustrated talk held in the Manzanar Visitor Center. It will be followed by a driving and walking tour from 1–3pm. The 7th Annual Eastern Sierra History Conference seeks to enhance awareness, enrich knowledge, and generate recognition of the diverse and complex heritage of the Eastern Sierra region. The 7th Annual History Conference will be held October 28-30, 2022. The conference will be held at the Cerro Coso Community College, Eastern Sierra Campus, 4090 W Line St, Bishop, CA.
