On October 14th, the solar eclipse will start at approximately 8:06 am, peak at 9:23 am, and end at 10:48 am in the eastern Sierra, with 80% coverage of the sun, creating dusk-like conditions. Join an ESIA interpretive specialist for a talk and witness one of the celestial events of the year! The program starts at 9 am at the Mobius Arch Trailhead Parking, Alabama Hills Solar glasses and an eclipse projector will be provided for viewing, paired with a short talk about the phenomenon.

Sign Up Here Join Alabama Hills Artist in Residence, Kristen Freeborn, for a free acrylic painting workshop for beginners and intermediates, recommended ages 10 and up. Kristen is finishing her residency for the Bureau of Land Management in the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area. She focuses on western themes in her work, primarily in the Sierra Nevada and surrounding deserts. She is excited to meet the community in the Owens Valley and invites them to join her lesson.
