Ski with a Ranger – Alpine Meadows

Tahoe National Forest is pleased to announce the Ski with a Ranger education program at Alpine Meadows at Palisades Tahoe. Intermediate level and above skiers and snowboarders are invited to join a Ski with a Ranger tour beginning Friday, Jan. 19 through early April or as conditions allow. One-hour tours will depart every Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. from the Alpine Meadows Base Lodge deck, weather permitting.  Tours are led by knowledgeable conservation education staff with topics covering the cultural and natural history of the area. This free conservation education program is offered to help bring awareness to the public about the mission and role of the Forest Service in ski area management, improve public understanding of natural resource processes and issues, and promote environmental literacy and stewardship. Mobius Arch Geology Walk

Mobius Arch Trail Parking Lot Mobius Arch Loop Trailhead, Lone Pine, CA

Every Friday in February join ESIA's Lead Naturalist on an exciting walk through the unique formations of the Alabama Hills. You will learn about the incredible geologic journey that makes the National Scenic Area what we see today. The walk is 0.6 miles with little elevation gain. Bring water, layers, and your curiosity. Films were crafted in the Alabama Hills for many years using these majestic hills for locations of different western states, countries, and even planets. Want to know more, stand where the stars stood, and marvel at the early technology? Join volunteer Nancy Hadlock for an excursion into the movie past! Meet at the Mobius Arch Parking Lot, then travel to a few movie locations. Bring walking shoes, layered clothes, water and your questions. Wildlife Tracking Workshop

Wildlife Tracking Workshops are back! Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association is teaming up with Eastern Sierra Land Trust to host these incredible workshops once again! Upcoming Workshop: Saturday, February 24, 2024 Join professional wildlife tracker and mountain lion researcher Phil Johnston for a day in the desert learning to read the stories of wild animals through tracking. Phil has over a decade of experience teaching tracking and is certified as Senior Tracker through Tracker Certification North America. Come learn to identify the tracks and signs of the many charismatic creatures who make their living in the Eastern Sierra.
